Movies

Monday we read paragraphs written by four different people in an online movie club (page 2 - Alejandro, Carolyn, Nan and David). The people in this movie club described their *taste in movies.

*taste has many meanings, one meaning is preference

Write a post to the movie club describing your taste in movies. Use some (NOT all !) of the questions below to help you write.

  • What genres of movies do you like?
  • What do you like about movies?
  • What genres of movies do you dislike?
  • What do you dislike about movies?
  •  Do you ever have to strike a compromise with people when you're trying to decide what movie to watch?
  • Are you a sucker for any specific genre of movie?

    1. My favorite movie genre is comedy.
Because it always makes me happy. I often watch the movies when I was depressed. That's why I prefer comedy.

And I don't like horror movies.I also don't like grotesque movies. Sometimes there are good plot movies in horror, but I generally don't like.

When I go to movie theater with my girlfriend, I wanted to see the comedy. But she wanted to see the love romance movie. It was a kind of the chick flick. Actually I didn't see that but I stroke a compromise with her.I regret that decision. Because it was such a boring movie!!

I'm a sucker for Home Alone series. They are awesome!!!

  3. My favourite movie genre would have to be action or crime thrillers. First, I like that these genres are exciting; there is always some problem that needs to be solved, like a car chase, shoot out, a fight scene etc.. Next, action films and crime thrillers are unpredictable, which makes them even more exciting. Moreover, I think that the villains in the genres are often portrayed well, so that the audience identifies more with the "good guys".

I dislike chick flicks and any kind of tearjerkers. For similar reasons, I also don't like horror movies. I don't enjoy the foreboding mood of the films. When I watch a movie, I want to be entertained, I want to laugh and have a good time, I don't like being afraid or sad, this is why I don't enjoy chick flicks, tearjerkers or horror films.

I frequently have to strike a compromise with my partner. He enjoys watching movies for their cinematographic value - I on the other hand, am all about the action in films! As a result, we often take turns choosing movies so that we're both happy.

I'm a sucker for Bruce Willis' Die Hard series as well as the Lethal Weapon series. I appreciate a good cop drama!

  4. I like fantasy adventure movies because they make me have dream and they have some messages.Nowadays I like documentary movies too. When I was young, I didn't watch them. They were too boring for me.As I grew older,I found that I can learn something from them.I like movies which have some mesages. However I watch every genres of movies. If I sucker for any actor, actress and director,I watch all movies which they appeared or directed.I don't care whether the movie is indie or blockbuster.

On the other hand,I don't like some of horror movies like "Saw" or "Cube".I can't understand why people should kill by themself or each other. It is such a psycho movies. They always make me feel too bad.
